My last post featured my dogs “Let me in!, Let me in!” Little did I know that for Lily, our dear yellow lab, this photo would be one of the last taken. We had to say good bye to her yesterday (a few short months before her 11th birthday), and it’s hard. When you bring a new puppy home for the first time, it is great if you have a great old girl like Lily to show the way for the youngster. Lily was a great “Mom” to our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel,Clementine. She shared her bed, her toys, and her love.
She went softly and peacefully to Dog Heaven yesterday, and I hope she was greeted by her old friends, Nick and Lola Belle. Clementine and we are saddened but Lily leaves behind great memories and will always be remembered with love and admiration.
My Own Lily Athena, a great yellow labrador retriever.
These are wonderful pictures, and what a nice thing that you had the blog to offer a tribute to Lily. Would that we all could have such a good life and a peaceful and graceful death.

Doreen, I went to your web site and was delighted to see that we have similar interest in needlepoint. In fact, below is a link to a needlepoint I did of Lily. And thank you for your kind words.

Dear Jayne,
I’m so sorry to read about the passing on to another world of your dog. Surely there’s something that smells amazing in her new life, something that needs digging up, something begs to be chased….Surely, everything you taught her, all the love you gave her, means that she is moving on to another karmic level, if such things happen; and perhaps, someday, you will bump into her in the guise of…a new friend? Who knows? What a beautiful, sweet expression she has. These are the kinds of fantasies (wishes? hopes? dreams?) that settle over us when we try to make sense of loss….I know you are mourning her, and she probably knows it too. Nothing for it but to go through it….and know that you have company in honoring her memory! Dominique
